EURAS General Assembly meeting was held at IAU on June 25th, 2011.
Launched by Istanbul Aydin University (IAU), EURAS made its first General Assembly Meeting at IAU on 25th June, 2011.
Rectors and Vise Rectors from 51 Eurasian member universities attended to the General Assembly from Far East, Middle Asia, Middle East, Balkans, Caucasus and Russia.
Among all the participating universities, there were also Al Muntansiriya of Iraq, the Islamic University of Gaza from Palestine, Aegean University from Greece, Dimitri Kantemir of Romania, Naples d’Orientale from Italy, Dagestan, Karachai-Circassian, the Baku Caspian, which are very unique members, not only in their countries but in the Eurasian region as well.
The opening speech of General Assembly was made by Former Minister of State Ahat Andican who focused on “Eurasian Geopolitics and Recent Developments” during his speech.
General Assembly focused on the development of joint projects among the member universities, creation of common policies related to the problems of the region, exchange of students and academic staff as well as the realization of joint degree and certificate programs.
The draft Application Guide for Euras Student-Academic Staff Mobility Program has been presented to the General Assembly. Efforts are underway in order to ensure that Guide comes into force at the beginning of 2012. In addition, the General Assembly has elected the new Executive Board to carry out the activities of the Eurasian Universities Union for the next three years.
